Our Western Front Day Tours have been specially designed to make you feel welcome while delivering a unique experience that will stay with you forever.
Travel in comfort as you visit the Australian battlefields of the Somme with one of our specialist tours which have been designed to suite any occasion or travel requirement. Our day tours are flexible and can slot into any existing travel itinerary, plus we easily accommodate visits to graves, battle sites or other special areas of particular interest to you.
Your day trip has been organised at a relaxed pace, where you can enjoy places of beauty, of history, and the ever present reminders of how our countrymen, who fought with courage and determination, have left their scars of battle in the revered landmarks.
All tours are operated and run by an Australian couple, Peter and Ellen Norton, who are now local battlefield experts with an excellent knowledge of all battles and sites on the Western Front. You’ll also learn key insights into French culture and experience the very welcoming nature of the locals, especially to Australian visitors.
All battlefield trips commence from a respectable 9am in the beautiful city of Arras, which is a comfortable 50 minute journey from the Paris Nord railway station via the TGV (fast train) network. Most tours return in the late afternoon to give you time to rest before going out to explore the many chic restaurants and cafes available.

Enjoy the French country air as you follow the footsteps our brave Australian troops through the center of the battlefield, and around the allied perimeter which provides excellent views of the climatic events that occurred. Time will also be spent around the charming village of Bullecourt. more →

On this trip you we will move around the village and the battlefield in Fromelles breathing the beautiful country air. Tour 6 – Fromelles – Ypres
From $325 per person
This tour takes you to Fromelles to move around the village and battlefields, before crossing into Belgium and climbing the remarkable Messines Ridge. The remainder of the day is spent in Ypres where you will attend the emotive Last Post Ceremony at Menin Gate. It is a long day out but you are rewarded well with many tour highlights. more →
Tour 7 – Fromelles – Bullecourt

If you want to visit Fromelles but don’t have time to go onto Ypres, then this Day tour is perfect for those who are coming up from Paris for the day. On this trip we will drive to the village and battlefield of Fromelles, then after lunch at the beautiful Grand Place, we will visit the place where the Australians launch their attack in the two Battles of Bullecourt in 1917. more →
